Chairperson Statement

Our Management Committee and Coaches worked hard during the firebreak lockdown, before the announcements were made, to introduce new sessions. Yet again though we’ve made two steps forward and one back.

Following announcements from the Welsh Government and the new restrictions that will be in place from the Monday 9th November. We have been working round the clock reviewing how the new limit of 15 people for indoor organised activities will impact on our sessions.

The new restrictions mean that any swimmers 11 and over are limited to the 15 rule. While swimmers aged 10 and under are not. On a positive note, our previous restriction of 30 per session had to take into account the coaching staff on poolside and also centre staff like lifeguards but this is no longer the case, they are also exempt for the 15 rule.

Following the review I can confirm we shall be returning to water on the Monday 9th November. Some changes have had to be made and unfortunately the number of extra sessions swimmers have been offered has had to have been reduced. All swimmers that have been affected have been contacted.

The Welsh Government has said this is for review again on Thursday 19th November, and could all change again. Please help in our campaign to have this 15 limit removed and allow us to increase the number of sessions offered by signing and sharing the petition below;

We have already past 2000 signatures in less than 48hrs, and currently the most popular petition in Wales
