On Monday 23rd May 2015 starting at 7.00am the club began a 12 hour swimathon to help raise funds for not only the club but three chosen charities.  The Heart Foundation, Wales Air Ambulance and Love, Hope & Strength Foundation.  The swimathon took place at Rhyl Leisure Centre where 109 swimmers aged between 7 and 65 years participated and raised a staggering £8358.43 and collectively swam 281,000 metres/175.1 miles/11,272 lengths of the 25 metre pool.  Cheques of £1375.00 each have been presented to the Welsh Air Ambulance, The Heart Foundation and Love, Hope & Strength Foundation.   A cheque for £4233.43 has also been presented to our chairperson Mrs Nancy Thirsk for the club.

The club would like to thank everybody for their fantastic support throughout this 12 hour event, the volunteers, coaches, swimmers, parents, grandparents and sponsors, it has made everyone feel very proud to be part of the club and the town of Rhyl and it just shows the quality of our young swimmers who found it in their hearts, the will to support such good causes and the money raised will help those who are not as fortunate as themselves.

The club would also like to give a big thanks to Rhyl Leisure Centre Manager Steve Baldwin, for letting us have the venue free of charge, his Duty Officers and lifeguards who all donated their time generously throughout the day for the charity event.  A very big thank you to our lane sponsors, Thorncliffe Building Supplies, Gwalia Butchers of Abergele, Royal Mail Sorting Office, Rhyl, Wynne Construction, Reflex & Allen, Bodelwyddan, MWT Civil Engineering Limited and R Evans Butchers, Llandudno.  Thank you to Michael Clark of Ty Mawr Holiday Park for the donation of the main raffle prize, to all the local businesses for their donations for the raffle and to Morrisons in Rhyl for the bread rolls.  Thanks must also go to Barclays Bank who matched the figure raised by the raffle/refreshments.
