CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS 2007

Rhyl Dolphins Swimming Club Championships are open to all swimming members of our club (however they must have joined the club by 22nd June 2007)

EVERYONE WHO SWIMS IN THE BIG POOL SHOULD ENTER, ITS YOUR GALA,
SO JOIN YOUR MATES, HAVE A GO AND HAVE SOME FUN!!

MINI CLUB CHAMPS: are for children who are normally in the little pool on Club Nights – entry forms are not required for the Mini Club Championships.

Don'r forget to come to Rhyl Dolphin's Finance Meeting(where the fees for 2007 are set) at 7pm in the Committee Room at Rhyl Leisure Centre on Thursday 23 November.
The club's AGM will follow straight after (approx 7.15pm) where there is an important issue to be discussed.
All members and parents are welcome to attend.
All members over the age of 15 are entitled to vote.

Presentation Night Tickets will be on sale:
during Gala 6 on Friday 29 September, Gala 7 on Sunday 1 October and on club nights up to Friday 27 October.

In order that we can work out how many people we are catering for, all tickets must be purchased by Friday 27 October. Please note no tickets will be sold at the door on the night.

Cost of tickets: Adults £6, 12yrs and under £4,
Gold Medalists receive 1 free ticket

We have been advised that the WASA training session at Rhyl on Friday 6 October has been cancelled. Therefore, we are pleased to announce that normal sessions will take place on this date. i.e. the big pool session at 7.30pm will take place as usual.

Further to the previous item posted, it is only the 7.30pm session in the big pool that is affected. LITTLE POOL SESSIONS CONTINUE AS NORMAL AT 7.30PM AND 8PM.

We have been advised that WASA have booked a training session for their squad on Friday 6 October which will not finish until 8.15pm. We have tried our best to get this altered but to no avail.
It is with regret that the 7.30pm session in the big pool on
Friday 6 October will have to be cancelled. However we would like to invite all those who normally attend the club night width session at 7.30pm to come along to the training session on Sunday 8 October from 6pm – 7pm instead.

*Should the morning sessions of Galas 2 & 4 on 23/24 September over run the times of the afternoon sessions may have to be amended.

Due to DCC swimming lessons on the mornings of Saturday 23 September (Gala 2) and on Sunday 24 September (Gala 4) neither swimmers nor spectators will be able to access the changing rooms or balcony until 15 minutes before warm up i.e. for Gala 2 you will be allowed in at 11.15 am and for Gala 4 at 10.15am.

Therefore all swimmers in Galas 2 & 4 are asked to wait in the Dance Studio (ground floor near the bottom of the stairs) not in reception area until a club official advises them that the changing rooms are available.

The “withdrawals/help desk” will be situated in the Dance Studio for Galas 2 & 4
For all other Galas the withdrawals/helpdesks will be situated on poolside near the entrance to poolside.

There will be 2 warm ups for Gala 2 & Gala 4. The first warm up will be for those competing in the 400m races. On completion of these races there will be a break and the rest of the swimmers will be invited to warm up. However, in order to create a better atmosphere and in fairness to those swimmers competing in the 400m races, we ask that all swimmers taking part in Galas 2 & 4 still arrive in time for the first warm up.

Reminder on “How to Withdraw”

We want as many swimmers as possible to compete in each race; however we know that some will want to withdraw. It is important that if you wish to withdraw from an event you inform the organisers. Failure to do this could mean that lanes will be left empty and could result in one swimmer swimming a race on their own! As you can imagine this is not very nice for the children especially as many have never competed before.

To withdraw from an event you must fill in a withdrawal slip available from the help desk. This should show your name, date of birth, age and the event you are withdrawing from. The completed withdrawal slip should then be handed in to the helpdesk.

Alternatively if you are withdrawing from a complete session you can telephone John/Julie on the mobile number previously given to you, up to 30 minutes prior to the warm up of that session. Please note due to work and family commitments this phone will be occasionally switched off. This number will only be available in the evenings and on the days of the galas.

In accordance with competition rules, failure to withdraw from an event could result in you being excluded from the rest of the championships or being fined

Due to the Bank Holiday there will be no training on Sunday 27 August 2006 and Monday 28 August 2006.

CANCELLED SESSIONS

As we are now unable to train unless a duty manager is present, we are no longer able to train over bank holidays. Therefore the following sessions over Easter have been cancelled:

CANCELLATION OF SESSIONS
Due to industrial action it has been confirmed that the Centre will be closed on Tuesday 28 March. Therefore there will be no training on that day.

Over the past two week-ends the North Wales Swimming Championships have been held, using two venues each alternate weekend at Bangor and Holywell respectfully. The Rhyl Dolphins have had eleven swimmers taking part, five boys and six girls, this is the first major championships we have swam in since being back at our home pool, after the 14 months refurbishment.

In all we had 48 Personal Best times. Ashleigh Morris won Gold Medals in the 100m Freestyle and 100m Breaststroke, Bronze Medal in the 200m Ind.Medley events.
Katie Cranwell won Silver Medal in the lOOm Breaststroke, her brother Ben won Bronze in the 200m Breaststroke, while Ben Barnes took Silver & Bronze Medals in 200 & 100m Breaststroke respectively.
Kate Owens earned a silver Medal in lOOm Butterfly.

The other swimmers who made this a successful championships are Jordon Coates, Rachel Marland, Gemma McCue, Andrew Morris, Ryan Frain-Walker and Lloyd Stanley who all swam personal bests and made several finals.

This is most encouraging for the club teaching and coaching staff and gives us great deal of confidence for the future of this great club, if you are interested in joining in this successful environment pop along on a friday night at 19:30 hrs and have a chat with us.

We are able to confirm that ALL sessions will return to Rhyl from
Monday 14 November 2005. However as only the group changing rooms are available we ask that all swimmers who normally attend the 8.15pm session on club night be changed to swim and on poolside by 8pm to allow sufficient room for the little pool swimmers from the 7.30pm session to change. We would also ask that all swimmers take all items with them onto poolside so as to leave as much room as possible in the changing rooms for other swimmers.

Session times from Monday 14 November are as follows:

Morning training: Monday to Friday 6am to 8am & Saturday 6.45am to 8.45am

Monday and Thursday training 5pm to 7pm

Sunday training normal times between 6pm & 9pm

Club Night normal session times between 7.30 & 10pm. (Sue's group at 8pm)

We have received confirmation this afternnon that we are able to use Pontins for early morning training commencing tomorrow Monday 7 November 6am to 8am

Presentation Night Saturday 12 November

Final numbers for tickets must be known by Sunday 6 November. If you have not ordered your tickets please contact me urgently.

I will be at Rhyl Leisure Centre on Sunday 6 November between 7.30pm and 8.30pm selling tickets. Tickets will also be available from me at Cymru Coast Championships.

We have just received confirmation that we are able to use the Nova on Friday 4 November and Friday 11 November - normal sessions time apply between 7.30pm to 10pm. However would all swimmers in Sue's group please attend at 7.30pm instead of 8pm while at the Nova.

We are working with Denbighshire County Council to try and secure as much pool time as possible and are still waiting to hear from Pontins as to whether our other sessions can go there.

Work on the floors of the changing rooms has now started
