Sport Leader Award in Competitive Swimming

In partnership with Sport Leaders UK, Swim Wales are able to offer the leadership Award in Swimming. This award will give you the opportunity to develop many skills which will be of benefit to you, both in a sporting environment and in life in general. The Sports Leaders UK Leadership Award in Swimming is a course which is not concerned with your sporting ability but instead will help you to develop many different volunteering skills, such as being able to communicate with others in a sports setting.

Pre-requisite: 13 years of age+

There will be a local course to be held at Denbigh Leisure Centre on 12th January 2020.  Time tbc.  There will be a total cost per person of £30 which is £25 for the course and £5 towards the hire of the room.   If anybody is interested in doing this course please let Fiona know.   Places are limited.

AGM 2019

Our AGM this year is on Thursday 5th December 2019 at Rhyl Leisure Centre.  We would like as many parents as possible to attend rather than it just being the same people all the time.  Finance Meeting will commence at 7.00pm followed by the AGM.  Every welcome to attend the Finance Meeting.

SWIM WALES 2019 AWARDS

Well done to our club which is one of the nominations for club of the year 2019 in the Swim Wales awards.  Also to Gregory Williams who has also been nominated in the Young Volunteer category.

12 HOUR SWIMATHON

On Monday 26th August Rhyl Dolphins Swimming Club began their 3rd 12 hour swimathon at Rhyl Leisure Centre to raise funds not only for their club but as in previous years three chosen charities selected by their fundraising group, all of which had some sort of connection/meaning to the club.  The swimmers were joined by parents, relatives, friends of the club and some of the Monday evening keep fit swimmers with an age range of 7 to 75 +.  Over the 12 hours they swam 10537 lengths of the pool, a distance of 163.69 miles.  This would not have been possible without the organisation  by Gerald Hay and his team of helpers,  Thank you to Steve Baldwin from Denbighshire County Council for the free use of the pool, to Adam Owen Duty Officer and lifeguards Georgia Fairclough, Matthew Meehan, Ryan Davenport, Adam Forman, Millie Cobley, Daniel Meehan, Nikita Williams and Charlie Williams who all gave us their time free of charge.  We wouldn't have been able to raise the amount we did without our lane sponsors - Thorncliffe Building Supplies, Wynne Construction Mr Normal Bullock, Mr Ollie Seldon of Goldegate Caravan Parks in Towyn, Darren King of Gwalia Butchers, Abergele and Gez-abelles (Swimmers parents).  Raffle prizes were donated by many parents, friends and local businesses, Morfa Rhuddlan, PB Bickerstaff Butchers in Prestatyn, Karen Davies, Lesley Wilde from FinChronicity, Prestatyn, Scala Cinema in Prestatyn, The Nova, Prestatyn, La Dolce Vita in Rhos on Sea, Ken Allford Handmade Woodwork and the main raffle prize was donated by Mark Ridgway, Manager of W R Davies, Ford Dealership, Fforddlas, Rhyl.  The sale of refreshments, cakes, games, tombola and raffle on the day together with the sponsor money raised will help the club and also benefit the three chosen charities.  On Friday 18th October cheques for £1000 each were presented to Trevor Lloyd Roberts on behalf of St Kentigern's Hospice, Kyra Davies on behalf of Spinal Research and Mark Turner on behalf of the National Autistic Society Conwy & Denbighshire Branch.   Thank you.
