How to enter a event
There are four different types of events, these are classified as:
Level 1 Licensed Meet- Meets at this level include long course (50m) National, Regional and County Championships. A minimum qualifying time is required to enter a meet at this level.
Level 2 Licensed Meet- Meets at this level include short course National, Regional and County Championships. This level meet enables athletes to achieve qualifying times suitable for entry into National, Regional and County Championships. You need to meet the qualifying times to be able to enter this gala.
Level 3 Licensed Meet - These galas are aimed at the inexperienced/slower swimmers seeking to compete outside their club environment. It enables swimmers to achieve times for entry into level 1 and level 2 galas. You can enter these galas with no entry times but there is an upper cut off time.
Level 4 Non-Licensed Meet- Club Championships (usually held towards the end of September). Times from this gala do not go on the British Swimming Rankings and can’t be used for a level 1 or 2 gala.
If you are not sure whether you are able enough to take part please ask a member of the Swimming Committee and they will advise on to the appropriate Gala. There may be an entry fee and swimmers will have to make their own way there.
